I2PSnark undoes my torrent progress

Post by privatealias »

I2PSnark keeps undoing the progress for this one torrent if I have to restart my computer or the internet cuts out.
It doesn't get rid of everything completely, but the percentage that is downloaded is always less than I remembered last time.
I use I2P+ if that helps.

weird, haven't seen this behavior before. wonder if the torrent uses large block sizes, could be not writing them to disk if they're stopped suddenly and not completed

Are you gracefully shutting down i2p normally and waiting 11 minutes?

Snark will discard partial pieces on shutdown, but partial pieces aren't credited in the completion percentage, so it shouldn't go down after restart, unless you brutally kill things and don't allow it to write the status to disk.

If you have a huge number of running torrents, stop i2psnark first before shutting down the router.

Maybe make it so that it automatically does that when shutting down? Since snark is usually autostarted when router starts, it should stop gracefully when shutting down the router. Just make it wait for snark shutdown, like when it says "shutdown imminent"

It was a problem back in the day, mostly fixed, but if you have say 5000+ torrents, maybe not. Just guessing, not really sure what the issue is.

I try to but the thing is it usually happens when my internet cuts out which I have no control over. I can usually predict when it's about to happen & shut it off beforehand. But sometimes I forget or it cuts off earlier than expected.

That's unfortunate you have such terrible internet. But losing internet shouldn't affect the state of the pieces in snark, it should sit there patiently until the internet comes back.
