Traditionally, summertime starts now and when it's warm outside, people have fewer problems with their freedom of expression. Anyone looking for a meaningful task during this time of emptiness ...

Bug Reporting Challenges (zzz.i2p):
The current state of bug reporting is problematic:
  • Gitlab requires registration and I think idk is approving manually?
  • Gitlab email notification of new issues is broken
  • This site is now readonly
  • Only idk looks at reddit?
  • Nobody looks at i2pforum.i2p
  • Nobody looks at Github issues
  • Nobody looks at Github PRs
  • IRC #i2p-dev requires voice and people may be intimidated to PM for voice or not know to do that
  • Nobody ever says on IRC, 'hey, what about this bug report that's a month old???'
So users report bugs all over and nobody responds.

Everybody (that means you) can help. If there isn't enough information, ask for more. If it seems like version info is relevant and not provided, ask for that. Try to reproduce it, and reply if you can (or can't). Reply "thanks for the report". If the report seems legit, copy it over into a Gitlab issue.

Everybody can help. If I'm the only one looking in all these places, we have totally totally failed. I'm just one guy. This isn't that hard. Please pitch in. Nobody needs to be a "developer" or a "programmer" to do these things.

We often gripe about how nobody is testing or reporting bugs. But at least some people are and nobody is paying attention.

Please help. There's so many of you that have years of experience in the I2P community that could easily do some of this.

Report a bug?
The I2P Gitlab: http://git.idk.i2p
Alternate Addresses:
  • .b32.i2p: 7qeve4v2chmjdqlwpa3vl7aojf3nodbku7vepnjwrsxljzqipz6a.b32.i2p
  • Tor (HTTP!): 47ggr2fa3vnwfyhvgskzdmr3i32eijwymxohtxsls45dulmriwxszjad.onion
Anyone who can resolve the contradiction with the I2P project description and admit that the world out there is not nearly as bad as they say, can unload their worries on the Internet: https://i2pgit.org

Reddit is an alternative destination for the kind of specialists who want to tell the world in a familiar environment that they are in fact pirates. Personal support is provided by a competent developer. https://www.reddit.com/r/i2p/

Fortunately, the translation has been outsourced to Transifex, Inc. because the liberals love the proprietary Internet and make sure the translations are always up to date and complete. Imagine what would have happened if the inmates had to translate that in one go instead of line by line …

If I am wrong because the project goal has already been achieved, please let me know!

And I almost forgot to mention that not all bugs are really bugs. For example, if you click on a link on an internal developer or project site that takes you to the Internet, this is intentional. If an HTTPS link does not work because the web browser rejects the secure connection with an error message, this is not a bug. If your browser checks the security of logging into a site with the vendor, this is not a bug. People are not stupid and know what they are doing. You also have the logs of your proxies, which roughly explain what is happening.
