http://simp.i2p is live now, content will probably be made public shortly. guides and other info is there without an access code now which can be grabbed in #torrents (irc)
simpbot can do some basic commands in irc like doing torrent lookup by infohash. there's also a newsbot that follows i2p only rss feeds active in #i2p-news (our irc and irc2p)
cookies are needed for access code to work and for convos signup
http://simp.i2p/external_status tracks torrent trackers in i2pand gives a list of the live ones, send your zzzots if you want them there

will it really need to be bound to irc?

no, irc is only needed now to generate an access code
It'll be open without access code soon enough, mainly concerned with dos and bots, not sure how it'll hold up yet

There are sooo many OpenTrackers here, but YOU ALL publish on PaT. Or do I not understand because I am missing information?

i'm pulling peer information through the open tracker for the indexer and irc bot so it's not putting extra load on tracker2. i COULD poll tracker2 but that feels abusive. Down the line i'd prefer to rely instead on DHT for the tracker itself but that'll take some time.
it's about getting info from the tracker on my end, not about finding peers on the other end

It is perfectly legitimate to use your own DHT to obtain information, whatever the purpose of this is.
The reasoning behind this must be based on the permanent availability of Tracker2. The question is, what do people with a lot of content do if their livelihood disappears one day for unknown reasons, what do you do with your countless torrents? Because they will then be out of sight and reach of the users for whom Tracker2 represents the entire I2P universe. So actually the whole western part. Is there a contingency plan for this?

if i'm understanding what you're trying to ask then the content is just gone? the same as it is now
i'm intending to use dht for tracking purposes only, continuing with the web based indexer for finding content

Some steps have been made in this direction. For example, magnet list download (i think it's only for registered users and only once a day).

yeah that's a good thing to have. I've not implemented that at simp but it wouldn't be difficult since it already generates a compressed db for sending to other instances. It's intended to be selfhostable so people running an instance could have the metadata locally, or share their own content that way and skip the webui for posting
