discuss I2P

keep in mind, I've only used one router so I probably can't with certainty why I wouldn't use a certain implementation.

I chose I2Pd for the speed. as a programmer, I believe that compiled languages are faster than interpreted languages which is why I am learning C++. the interface is quite minimal (maybe a bit too minimal for some people) and it does the job for me.

I know that other implementations such as the original router (Java-I2P) have features I might like (such as plugins and susimail) but I'm not in a position to actually want those features. and if I need something like E-Mail, I'll just add the mail server into my IMAP and POP3 section in my configuration and use an E-Mail Client.

but why did you choose your I2P Router?

depends what you want to do. i2pd can move a lot of traffic efficiently, does great for transit traffic, and is good for basic things like torrents and browsing. might even have more stable irc connections. the more i've used it the more i've recognized the issues that it has for my use case. what it comes down to for me anyway is i end up spending way too much time fiddling with problems that java routers don't have. I also get a lot of use out of the features in java.

i used to run a larger fleet of i2pd routers but i kept running into fatal bugs and memory leaks. Or one would seemingly get DOS'd. granted, i abuse my routers. i2p+ is great, i beat it all the time
